Letters From Students
Dear Dr. Tsigelny and Dr. Kouznetsova,
I hope you are both doing well. This is Lauren from your 2024 program (“Improving Cancer Patients’ Outcomes using PD-1/PD-L1 miRNAs and Machine Learning”). I am excited to share that I will be attending UCSD next fall for Data Science! I am thrilled to be attending my dream school, and I could not have done it without your help. Thank you again for providing me with the opportunity to participate in such a prestigious program, where I discovered a passion for research and learned countless skills that will guide me towards success. Your program solidified my choice of pursuing Data Science, likely with a specialty in Biology. I would be honored to potentially attend your
classes in the future, and I look forward to seeing you both around!
Sincerely,
Lauren
Hi Professor Tsigelny,
I sincerely thank you for offering so many fascinating project ideas to explore. At first, I wasn’t sure how to find the most feasible topics, but Dr. Kouznetsova’s lecture helped greatly. Her clear, step by step explanations of evaluating project feasibility and guiding a research project from selection to execution were incredibly helpful.
Best Regards,
Flora
Dear Dr. Tsigelny,
I just wanted to thank you for the important role you’ve played in developing my love for science. Because you gave me the opportunity, I was able to delve into the world of research. I was recently accepted into the Electrical Engineering Computer Science Program at UC Berkeley, and I know I couldn’t have done it without your help. Thank you again!
Sincerely,
Miles
Dear Professor Tsigelny,
I wanted to let you know that I got into Caltech and will be attending this fall. Thank you so much for your support and your letter. I really appreciate everything you’ve done to help me get here.
Best,
Trevor
Hi Prof. Tsigelny and Kouznetsova,
I hope this email finds you well. I recently graduated from college with two degrees in computer science and mathematics, and wanted to reach out and thank you for your early support of me and my ideas, and for helping me develop as a researcher and student. I actually recently had my second-ever paper accepted to the IEEE MLSP conference, where I’ll be presenting, and I
couldn’t help but think about the work I did with both of you for my first paper. My approach to thinking about research problems, especially in data analysis, has been greatly influenced by you for the better, and my work with you has opened many doors for me, such as this one. So, thank you!!
Best,
Shayan
